Hayden Graduates from preschool

So it is a bittersweet feeling today. Hayden graduates from preschool. Next step off to kindergarten and then the world. I teared up several times between his graduation ceremony and his actual last day of school.

The ceremony was cute they all got up and sang several cute little songs and did some dancing. The most memorable part would have to be the fact that his baby sister Gracie hijacked the whole thing. She went up on the stage and would not come down for nothing. She just felt like she belonged there. If I had taken her by force, it would have resulted in a knock down drag out screaming fit and I would have missed the whole ceremony. So while I was terribly mortified by her being up there, I had little choice but to let her stay. In the end I think she was the best dancer up there.

Time sure has flown, I find it hard to believe Hayden is really about to start kindergarten. He has become such a little man, no longer my baby. He is so sweet and smart and did I mention challenging at times. He just amazes me all the time.

He had the greatest teachers at his school. They welcomed Gracie and I so much. Every time we dropped off Hayden or picked up Gracie would have to go play for a little while. All the kids knew her and every teacher up and down the hall would stop and talk with us. It is no wonder she thought she should be up on the stage.
The teachers were so great about being positive and keeping Hayden's behavior separate from who he was. He had tough days or days he made bad choices but I always felt like they still liked him. I will so miss them this next year, I am hoping to get a great teacher for Kindergarten too. I can hardly wait for Gracie to go to preschool because I know she will just have a great experience.

Our new addition

So we have officially lost our minds. With 2 dogs an 18 month old and a 4 1/2 yr old we didn't feel busy enough. Travis just started his MBA program, online this week. So what did we do. We got a puppy!!!

I really do think I have lost my mind. He is absolutely adorable. He is a Yorkie-Poo puppy, 7 weeks old. Born on 11/22/08. He is all black and looks more Poo than Yorkie. He is not officially named yet. The short list so far is Koda, Bart, or Ringo. Hayden likes Koda best. That is the name of the little bear in brother bear.

He did not sleep well last night, so neither did I. It is like having a baby again, but messier. No diaper to keep things tidy. His parents were both about 4 1/2 lbs so he will be small.

His brothers Bullseye and Sammy are getting up there now, they are both 12 yrs old and having some health issues. Sammy has had Valley Fever and has been on meds for over a year now. Bullseye has eye problems and is having to get drops 3x a day right now. He also has arthritis in his hips, which is common in German shepards.

We want the kids to have dogs they will grow up with so we had been talking about getting a dog. I don't think we really thought we were going to do it, and then we did. A very spontaneous endeavor for us, not our usual way at all.
